Olix Computing is a London-based deep tech startup building the Optical Tensor Processing Unit, a photonics-based AI accelerator for inference. They're hiring a Technical Program Manager to coordinate hardware and software delivery, working on-site in London with pay starting at 84,000 pounds. This program management role sits within the UK's photonics and AI hardware sector.
AI is growing faster than any technology in history and the explosion in demand has created a massive infrastructure gap; we can no longer build chips or power stations fast enough to keep up. The industry is still leaning on a ten-year-old hardware blueprint that has reached its limit. A new paradigm that is faster and more efficient will be the biggest economic opportunity of the next century and create the most important company of the next decade. The OLIX Decode Accelerator 1 (DX-1) is the first accelerator architected specifically for decode. Rack-scale co-design of logic, data movement, packaging, optics and interconnect enables a step change in system level performance.
We are hiring a Technical Program Manager to deliver end-to-end technical program execution across hardware, software, optics and manufacturing - setting the structure, aligning teams, and driving critical programs from R&D through to on-time mass manufactured product delivery.
As Technical Program Manager, you will run a number of programs critical to OLIX’s delivery. You’ll partner closely with engineering to set direction, identify blockers, implement risk mitigations and report on status. You’ll take ownership of cross-functional delivery within your programs, ensuring reliable, high-quality execution in areas critical to OLIX's roadmap.
Own end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional technical programs from initiation through to completion.Drive partner meetings end-to-end.
Define and maintain program plans, milestones, dependencies, and critical path across multiple workstreams.
Drive alignment between engineering, product, and business stakeholders on scope, priorities, and trade-offs.
Run structured program cadences: planning sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Identify, track, and mitigate risks and blockers before they impact delivery.
Manage vendor and partner relationships through scope changes, timeline conflicts, and commercial negotiations.
Maintain clear program documentation: decisions logs, status reports, shared technical information.
Hold workstream leads and engineers accountable to commitments without direct line authority.
Escalate effectively and concisely when decisions need senior input.
Continuously improve delivery processes, tooling, and ways of working across the program.
Broad engineering background with some technical experience across hardware, software and manufacturing.
3+ years in a TPM, program management, or senior project management role in a technical environment.
Proven track record delivering multi-disciplinary programs at scale with multiple interdependent teams.
Strong engineering literacy: able to engage credibly on technical trade-offs without being the domain expert.
Strong stakeholder management up to VP; comfortable holding people to account.
Fluent in program management best practices.
Structured thinker with high attention to detail and an ability to bring clarity to an otherwise high-ambiguity development environment.
Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments.
Competitive Salary: commensurate with your experience, skills, and location.
Equity & Ownership: Meaningful stock options. You’re not just joining the mission; you’re owning a piece of it.
Proximity Bonus: We value your time. To minimise your commute and maximise your life, we offer an annual Living-Local Bonus if your residence is within 20 minutes of the office..
Due to U.S. export control regulations, candidates’ eligibility to work at OLIX depends on their most recent citizenship or permanent residency status. We are generally unable to consider applicants whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence is in certain restricted countries (currently including Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela). Applicants who have subsequently obtained citizenship or permanent residency in another country not subject to these restrictions may still be eligible..
Olix Computing is a London-based startup developing the Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU), a new type of AI accelerator that uses photonics rather than traditional GPU architecture for AI inference. The company integrates photonics with an SRAM-based memory architecture, which it claims can outperform high-bandwidth memory systems in efficiency, throughput per watt, and overall cost. Originally registered as Flux Corp Ltd in March 2024, the company rebranded to Olix Computing. Founded by 25-year-old serial entrepreneur James Dacombe, who also runs brain-monitoring company CoMind, Olix has grown to over 70 employees and plans to ship its first products by 2027. Valued at over $1B.
